Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (Plain or seasoned)
  • 1 Egg (Beaten)
  • 1 Onion (Finely diced)
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 3 tbsp Butter (Salted or unsalted)
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Beef broth (Low sodium preferred)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 Onion (Sliced)
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper. Form into 6–8 oval-shaped patties.
  2. Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium heat and brown the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the sliced onions until tender.
  4. Sprinkle in the flour and stir for two minutes to create a roux.
  5. Gradually whisk in the beef broth and heavy cream until the mixture is smooth.
  6. Return the patties to the skillet, nestling them in the gravy. Cover tightly and transfer to a preheated oven at 350°F for 45 minutes.
  7. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using seasoned breadcrumbs or adding diced bell peppers or mushrooms into the beef mixture.
