Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.

  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, beating well.
  4. Gradually mix in the sour cream until combined.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the diced apples and cinnamon.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  7. In another bowl, combine the brown sugar, oats, and a bit of cinnamon. Sprinkle this topping over the batter.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let cool before drizzling with a sweet cinnamon apple glaze if desired.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing different apple varieties. Serve warm or chilled with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
