A delightful dessert that merges banana cream pie flavors with moist yellow cake, perfect for gatherings.

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 3 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup whipped cream or whipped topping
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Crushed vanilla wafers (for topping)
  • Optional: additional banana slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to the temperature indicated on the cake mix box. Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. Prepare the yellow cake mix according to package instructions and pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake the cake according to package instructions until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool completely.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the milk and instant vanilla pudding mix until smooth. Allow it to thicken for a few minutes.
  5. Fold in the whipped cream and vanilla extract.
  6. Once the cake has cooled, slice it in half horizontally. Place the bottom layer on a serving platter.
  7. Spread half of the pudding mixture over the bottom layer of the cake and top with sliced bananas.
  8. Place the top cake layer on and repeat the process with the remaining pudding mixture and bananas.
  9. Garnish with crushed vanilla wafers and additional banana slices if desired.
  10. Chill in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before serving to set the flavors.

Notes

Use ripe bananas for added sweetness. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
