A delightful treat uniting ripe bananas with rich chocolate. Moist and soft, perfect for snacks, breakfast, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 overripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5 metal loaf pan and set aside.
  2. Mash the bananas in a bowl and set aside.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and sugars using a hand mixer.
  4. Add the eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla, mixing well until combined.
  5. Sift in the dry ingredients, then gently fold in the chocolate chips, reserving some for topping.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle reserved chocolate chips on top.
  7. Bake at 350°F for about 50 minutes, checking for doneness.
  8. Remove from the oven when a toothpick comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

Notes

For best flavor, use very ripe bananas with brown spots. Store cooled bread wrapped in plastic wrap or in an airtight container for up to five days.
