Delicious chocolate cupcakes topped with creamy homemade Oreo buttercream frosting, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup Oreo cookies, crushed
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk.
  4. <li Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Gently fold in the crushed Oreos.

  5. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let them cool completely.
  7. For the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar. Mix in heavy cream and vanilla extract until smooth.
  8. Frost the cooled cupcakes with Oreo buttercream and top with additional crushed Oreos if desired.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better dough consistency. Don’t overmix the batter; mix just until the ingredients combine.
