Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and mix in the granulated sugar.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the eggs and vanilla.
  4. Fold in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined.
  5. Spread the brownie batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Let the brownies cool completely.
  7. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  8. Melt the chocolate and let it cool slightly, then fold it into the whipped cream along with the powdered sugar.
  9. Spread the mousse over the cooled brownies and refrigerate until set.
  10. Optionally, top with ganache before serving.

Notes

Allowing the brownies to cool completely before adding the mousse enhances the texture.
