Chocolate Mousse Brownies

Rich fudgy brownies topped with a light and airy chocolate mousse, perfect for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 3 large egg whites
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt butter over medium heat, then stir in sugar until combined.
  3. Remove from heat, cool slightly, and whisk in eggs and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
  6. Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool completely in the pan.
  9. In a heatproof bowl, melt chopped chocolate until smooth and let it cool slightly.
  10. Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  11. Beat egg whites until foamy, then gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
  12. Fold melted chocolate into whipped cream, then gently fold in beaten egg whites.
  13. Spread the mousse evenly over the cooled brownies.
  14. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours.

Notes

Best served chilled. Can be garnished with chocolate shavings or whipped cream.
