A delightful and creamy icing that enhances homemade cinnamon rolls with a sweet, tangy flavor.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz (½ cup) cream cheese, softened
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 23 tablespoons whole milk, adjust to desired consistency
  • Pinch of salt, optional

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Pour in the vanilla extract and mix until fully incorporated.
  3. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar while mixing on low speed.
  4. Add whole milk one tablespoon at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  5. Add a pinch of salt if desired, and beat for another 30 seconds until completely smooth.
  6. Spread over warm cinnamon rolls to allow the icing to melt slightly.

Notes

For a chocolate twist, add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
