Scale
  • 1 loaf bread (French or challah)
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  2. Cut the bread into roughly 1-inch cubes and place them in the prepared dish.

  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes and gently press down to soak.
  5. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  6. Remove from the fridge and bake for 45 to 50 minutes until golden and set.
  7. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving warm with syrup or toppings.

Notes

Use slightly stale bread for best results. Can be made gluten-free or dairy-free with proper substitutions.
