Rich, chewy brownies with a warm, gooey center and a slightly crisp top, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Beat in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
  5. Optional: sprinkle chocolate chips on top of the batter.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. A toothpick should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the batter and consider adding high-quality cocoa powder and chocolate chips.
