  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and sugar together until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until creamy.
  7. Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter and spread it gently.
  8. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until the top is golden and the center is set.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your gooey butter cake!
