A quick and hearty meal featuring tender ground beef, sautéed vegetables, and ooey-gooey cheese, perfect for a family gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or any cheese of your preference)
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Olive oil, for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, drizzle olive oil and heat over medium-high.
  2. Add sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about 3-5 minutes until tender. If using mushrooms, add and continue cooking for another 3 minutes.
  3. Push cooked vegetables to one side of the skillet. Add ground beef and brown for about 5-7 minutes until no longer pink.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes.
  5. Lower the heat, place cheese over the beef mixture, and cover the skillet for 2-3 minutes until cheese melts.
  6. Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise, ensuring not to cut all the way through.
  7. Spoon the beef and vegetable mixture into each roll.
  8. Serve hot, optionally toasting rolls for a crispy texture.

Notes

For a gourmet touch, consider adding spicy mayo or a drizzle of balsamic glaze. You can also substitute the ground beef with turkey or chicken.
