Savory ground beef and caramelized onions smothered in gooey cheese and served in warm hoagie rolls, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 2 cups cheese (Provolone or Cheez Whiz)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and sauté until softened and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Push the onions to the side and add the ground beef. Cook until browned through.
  4. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to your liking.
  5. Combine the cooked onions with the beef until well mixed.
  6. Place cheese on top of the beef mixture and cover the skillet. Let it cook until the cheese melts, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Toast the hoagie rolls until golden.
  8. Load the beef and cheese mixture into the rolls and serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding sautéed bell peppers or mushrooms. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
