A weeknight lifesaver, this sweet and garlicky chicken dish is easy to prepare and bake, with tender thighs and a glossy sauce.

  • 4 pieces chicken thighs (bone-in or boneless)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium if preferred)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 green onions, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, ground ginger, and black pepper until blended.
  3. Place the chicken thighs in a single layer in a baking dish, skin-side up if using skin-on pieces.
  4. Pour the honey garlic sauce evenly over the chicken, turning pieces to coat if needed.
  5. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) at the thickest point.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

Choose skin-on thighs for a crisper finish. Low-sodium soy sauce helps control saltiness. For gluten-free, substitute tamari for soy sauce.
