A comforting and make-ahead lasagna layered with tender noodles, creamy ricotta, savory meat, and a rich marinara, perfect for feeding a crowd.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Lasagna noodles (regular or no-boil)
  • Ricotta cheese
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese (whole-milk recommended)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Ground beef or beef sausage
  • Marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Italian seasoning (oregano, basil, thyme blend)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
  3. Brown the ground beef or beef sausage in a skillet, drain excess fat, then add marinara and simmer for a few minutes.
  4. Combine ricotta, egg, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in a bowl until smooth.
  5. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a baking dish, then layer noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and more sauce. Repeat, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then remove foil and bake for 15 more minutes until bubbly and golden.
  7. Let rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a lighter texture, swap half the ricotta for part-skim cottage cheese. Use higher-quality marinara for better flavor.
