Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat over medium heat and brown the ground beef. Once cooked, drain any excess fat.
  2. Add in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion turns translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper, giving the pot a good mix.
  4. Add the kidney beans, black beans, and diced tomatoes to the pot. Stir everything together until well combined.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Ladle the chili into bowls and enjoy immediately.

Notes

Consider topping with shredded cheese, diced avocados, or serving alongside cornbread.
