A cozy and flavorful chili recipe perfect for weeknight dinners and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 bell peppers, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) beans (kidney or black), drained
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, cheese, green onions

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, bell peppers, and garlic. Cook until soft.
  2. Add the ground meat, breaking it into pieces. Cook until browned.
  3. Sprinkle in the chili powder and cumin, stir well to coat.
  4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and drained beans, then mix thoroughly.
  5. Let the chili come to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for at least 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

Notes

For a spicier kick, consider adding chopped jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce during cooking. Letting the chili sit for a day intensifies the flavors.
