Delightful soft and chewy oatmeal chocolate chip cookies that combine wholesome oats with sweet chocolate chips.

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon unsulphured or dark molasses
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups old-fashioned whole rolled oats
  • 1 and 3/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: flaky sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt together. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until combined and creamy, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs, molasses, and vanilla and beat until combined.
  4. Add the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Beat in the oats and chocolate chips.
  6. Cover and refrigerate the dough for at least 45 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  8. Scoop dough onto baking sheets and bake for 13-14 minutes until lightly browned.
  9. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

For the best results, use room temperature butter and eggs. Refrigerating the dough enhances flavor and texture.
