Quick and easy honey garlic chicken bites that are crispy, sticky, and perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breasts (cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil
  • 6 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp red chili pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp cold butter
  • Garnish with chopped chives

Instructions

  1. Pat chicken dry and cut into 1-inch cubes.
  2. Season chicken evenly with salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Toss to coat.
  3. Add cornstarch and mix until every cube has a light dusting.
  4. Heat avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  5. Add chicken in a single layer. Sear until golden and crispy, about 5 minutes per side.
  6. Remove the cooked chicken to a plate and set aside.
  7. Lower the heat to medium. Add minced garlic and red chili flakes to the same skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  8. Stir in honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and water. Cook, stirring, until the sauce slightly thickens, about 2 minutes.
  9. Drop in cold butter and swirl the pan until the sauce turns glossy.
  10. Return the chicken to the skillet and toss to coat thoroughly. Warm through for 30 to 60 seconds.
  11. Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with chopped chives. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use vegetable oil instead of avocado oil if necessary. For a gluten-free version, substitute tamari for soy sauce. Reduce honey by one tablespoon for less sweetness.
