A no-fuss, showy dessert that layers creamy mascarpone with bright, fresh berries and soft ladyfingers for an elegant yet easy treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mixed fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1 cup ladyfingers
  • 1/2 cup coffee or berry juice for soaking

Instructions

  1. Chill a mixing bowl and beaters for best results, then combine mascarpone, cold heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla in the bowl. Whisk on medium-high until soft peaks form.
  2. Pour coffee or berry juice into a shallow dish. Quickly dip each ladyfinger for 1 to 2 seconds.
  3. Place a single layer of soaked ladyfingers across the bottom of a trifle dish or large glass bowl.
  4. Spoon half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers and spread gently into an even layer.
  5. Scatter half of the mixed fresh berries over the cream layer.
  6. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers, the remaining mascarpone mixture, and finish with the remaining berries on top.
  7. Cover and refrigerate the trifle for at least 2 hours, preferably 4, so the layers set and flavors meld.
  8. Serve chilled.

Notes

For an attractive presentation, serve portions in shallow glass bowls. Consider a light dusting of powdered sugar or fresh mint leaves on top.
