A no-fuss, highly satisfying layered dessert combining fudgy brownies, creamy pudding, and airy whipped cream, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box brownie mix (plus the eggs, oil, and water called for on the package)
  • 2 cups whipped cream (stabilized or store-bought)
  • 1 cup chocolate pudding (ready-made instant or homemade)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
  • Crushed brownies for layering
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Follow the brownie mix package directions to bake the brownies. Cool them completely on a wire rack.
  2. Break or crumble the cooled brownies into chunks and then roughly crush enough to make a thick bottom layer. Reserve some larger pieces for texture.
  3. Spoon half of the crushed brownies into the bottom of a trifle dish or large glass bowl and press gently to even them out.
  4. Spread half of the chocolate pudding over the brownie layer in an even layer.
  5. Add a layer of whipped cream on top of the pudding, smoothing it with a spatula.
  6. Sprinkle half of the chocolate chips evenly over the whipped cream.
  7. Repeat with the remaining crushed brownies, the remaining pudding, and the remaining whipped cream. Finish with the last of the chocolate chips.
  8. Top the trifle with chocolate shavings for a pretty finish.
  9. Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to let the layers set and the flavors meld. Serve chilled.

Notes

You can swap vanilla pudding for a lighter contrast, or use whipped topping if you need a dairy-free option.
