A quick and delightful dessert featuring cherry pie filling, a creamy cream cheese layer, and a crunchy cake-mix topping.

  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix, dry
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese with sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  3. Spread cherry pie filling evenly across the bottom of the greased dish.
  4. Dollop the cream cheese mixture over the cherries, spreading or swirling to cover.
  5. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  6. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the cake mix.
  7. If using, scatter chopped pecans and dust cinnamon on top.
  8. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  9. Let the cake cool slightly for 15 to 20 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. This dessert is perfect for potlucks and gatherings.
