A classic chocolate chip cookie recipe that produces soft cookies with a chewy center and crisp edges, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (room temperature)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment or use ungreased pans.
  2. Beat the softened butter with both sugars until the mixture is smooth and a bit fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla until combined.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry mix into the wet mixture, stirring until just blended.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly using a spatula.
  7. Drop large spoonfuls or use a cookie scoop to place dough on the baking sheet, leaving space for spreading.
  8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers look set but still soft.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a chewier cookie, measure flour by spooning it into the cup to avoid packing. You can also use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.
