Deliciously tender and crispy chocolate chip cookies topped with flaky sea salt, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup oat flour (or all-purpose flour)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semisweet or mix)
  • Flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Beat the softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until smooth and pale.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition and then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Whisk together the oat or all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized rounds onto the prepared cookie sheets.
  8. Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each mound of dough.
  9. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Chilling the dough can help maintain thickness. To reduce sugar, cut granulated sugar by 2 tablespoons, but note the cookies will be less sweet.
