A deliciously tangy and nutritious orange chicken dish, perfect for busy weeknights.

  • 1.5 lbs chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the chicken cubes with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and red chili flakes.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the coated chicken to the skillet in a single layer and cook for 6 to 8 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. Pour the orange sauce mixture into the skillet with the chicken.
  6. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce has thickened to a glaze.

Notes

Serve with steamed jasmine rice or quinoa and fresh vegetables for a complete meal.
