Delicious soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies with golden edges and warm gooey centers, perfect for cookie swaps and cozy nights.

Ingredients

  • 2 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 1 egg yolk, room temperature
  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Measure flour, baking soda, corn starch, and salt into a bowl and whisk to combine.
  2. Whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar for two minutes.
  3. Add the vanilla, whole egg, and egg yolk. Whisk until light and puffy.
  4. Pour the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips gently until evenly distributed.
  6. Scoop about ¼ cup of dough for each cookie, rolling into smooth balls.
  7. Chill the dough balls in the refrigerator for 1 hour or freeze for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 325°F and arrange dough balls on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until edges are golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
  10. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For chewy cookies, do not skip chilling the dough. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
