This quick and easy Crispy Chinese Honey Garlic Chicken features bite-sized chicken pieces tossed in a glossy honey-soy garlic sauce, perfect for busy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Steamed rice, for serving
  • Vegetables, for serving (steamed broccoli, snap peas, or stir-fried bok choy)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and pepper in a small bowl until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the chicken pieces in a single layer. Cook without moving for 2 minutes to get color, then stir and continue cooking until chicken is cooked through and browned, about 6–8 minutes total depending on piece size.
  4. Pour the sauce over the hot chicken and stir to coat every piece.
  5. Keep the skillet over medium heat and cook, stirring, for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and turns glossy. Taste and adjust salt or pepper if needed.
  6. Remove from heat and serve immediately over steamed rice with your chosen vegetables.

Notes

To make this gluten-free, swap soy sauce for tamari. For a deeper flavor, try adding brown sugar or a splash of lemon juice.
