  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add the softened butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar together until stiff peaks form.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter. Don’t overmix to avoid a dense cake.
