Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 large potatoes, sliced thinly
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high, add the ground beef and chopped onion, and cook until the beef is no longer pink.
  3. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Grease a baking dish lightly with oil or cooking spray.
  5. Arrange a layer of sliced potatoes across the bottom and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  6. Spread the cooked ground beef and onion evenly over the potatoes.
  7. Dollop or spread the cream of mushroom soup over the beef layer.
  8. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top and season once more with salt and pepper.
  9. Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, try a non-dairy creamy soup and dairy-free shredded cheese. Slice potatoes uniformly for even cooking.
