A comforting and hearty dish combining ground beef, potatoes, and cheese. Perfect for family dinners or meal prepping.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 45 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1/4 cup milk (optional, for creaminess)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a large skillet.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart until browned, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  4. Drain any excess fat if needed.
  5. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking for another 3-4 minutes until the onion is soft.
  6. Spread the beef mixture evenly in the baking dish.
  7. Layer the potatoes on top, seasoning them with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  8. Sprinkle the cheddar and Parmesan cheese over the beef.
  9. Pour the beef broth around the edges of the casserole and drizzle with milk if desired.
  10. Cover the casserole with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.

Notes

You can assemble the casserole a day in advance and bake before serving. This dish is perfect for meal prep and can be frozen in portions for up to three months.
