A fast and comforting honey garlic chicken recipe that balances sweet and savory flavors, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Rice or vegetables for serving

Instructions

  1. Whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, olive oil, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in a shallow dish, pour the marinade over them, and turn to coat.
  3. Let them marinate for 30 minutes at room temperature or refrigerate for up to 2 hours.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil if needed.
  5. Transfer the chicken to the hot skillet, reserving any extra marinade. Cook for 6 to 7 minutes on the first side without moving.
  6. Flip the chicken and cook another 6 to 7 minutes, spooning warmed marinade over the top towards the end.
  7. Check doneness with a thermometer (should reach 165°F / 74°C) and let rest for 3 minutes before slicing.
  8. Serve with rice or vegetables.

Notes

For dark meat, use boneless skinless thighs, adjusting cooking time as necessary. For a gluten-free version, replace soy sauce with tamari.
