A quick and easy sweet-and-savory honey garlic chicken that’s ready in about 25 minutes and perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional for thickening)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the chicken and cook for 6 to 8 minutes per side, until browned and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  4. While the chicken rests, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a small bowl.
  5. Pour the honey-garlic mixture into the hot pan and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. If desired, mix cornstarch with cold water and stir into the sauce; simmer until glossy.
  7. Return the chicken to the pan, coating each piece with sauce and heating through.
  8. Finish with sliced green onions and serve immediately.

Notes

For a deeper flavor, use dark honey. For gluten-free, substitute tamari for soy sauce. Adjust cook time for bone-in chicken.
