A quick and easy weeknight recipe for Honey Garlic Crispy Chicken with golden skin and a sweet-savory glaze that everyone will enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless chicken thighs (skin on, about 11.2 lb / 500 g)
  • 1.5 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch (for coating)
  • 1/4 cup oil (for pan frying)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 bulb garlic (finely minced)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • Dried parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the thighs dry and debone if needed, but keep the skin intact.
  2. Optionally score the meat side and gently pound for even cooking.
  3. Mix soy, oyster sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Marinate the thighs for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Lightly coat each thigh in cornstarch and shake off the excess.
  5. Heat oil in a large pan over low-medium heat and place the chicken skin side down. Fry for 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden and crisp, and the internal temperature is 165°F (74°C).
  6. Remove the chicken and pour out the excess oil.
  7. Melt butter over low heat, add minced garlic, and cook until fragrant.
  8. Stir in honey and soy, then simmer until slightly thickened.
  9. Return the chicken to the pan and coat both sides in the sauce.
  10. Garnish with dried parsley if using.

Notes

For less sodium, use low-sodium soy sauce. Cornstarch can be substituted with potato starch. Ensure to prevent overcooking by monitoring the internal temperature.
