Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until a dough forms.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick and cut into squares.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the beignets in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels, then dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature for frying to prevent greasy beignets. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or freeze for up to three months.
