A comforting cheeseburger pie made with ground beef, cheddar cheese, and a fluffy Bisquick batter on top.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (85/15)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup Bisquick or all-purpose baking mix
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • Optional for serving: ketchup, mustard, pickles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium. Add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is tender.
  3. Drain excess fat from the skillet, then season the meat with salt and pepper. Stir to combine.
  4. Spread the beef and onion mixture evenly in the prepared pie dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar over the top.
  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the Bisquick, milk, and eggs until the batter is smooth and no lumps remain.
  6. Pour the batter gently over the meat and cheese, spreading it so it covers evenly.
  7. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the top is golden and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the pie rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm with ketchup, mustard, or pickles if you like.

Notes

For a lighter version, use ground turkey and lower fat milk. You can also add diced green peppers or jalapeños for extra flavor.
