Delicious, soft, and chewy chocolate chip cookies with a slightly crisp edge, perfect for comforting moments.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (about 1 3/4 sticks)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (plus up to 2 tablespoons more if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Partially melt the butter until soft and slightly warm, then let it cool for a few minutes.
  3. Beat the cooled butter with granulated and brown sugars until fluffy and pale, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Add the vanilla, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  5. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips by hand.
  8. Scoop dough onto prepared sheets, spacing scoops at least 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes for large cookies or 8 to 9 minutes for smaller ones.
  10. Let cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider substituting half the granulated sugar with brown sugar. Can be made gluten-free with a 1-to-1 flour blend.
