A visually stunning dessert with layers of fluffy angel food cake, rich vanilla pudding, and fresh strawberries, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Box Angel Food Cake Box Mix
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 3.4 oz Vanilla Instant Pudding Mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 56 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Whipped cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the vanilla pudding according to the package instructions. Usually, this involves mixing 3 cups of cold milk with the pudding mix and whisking until blended. Allow it to set for about 5 minutes.
  2. Sprinkle the sliced strawberries with granulated sugar and set aside to let the flavors meld.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F and ensure all your bowls and utensils are clean for best results.
  4. Blend the angel food cake mix and water in a large bowl on low speed until moistened, about 30 seconds.
  5. Increase to medium speed and beat for 1 minute. Be careful not to overbeat.
  6. Pour the mixture into an ungreased 10-inch tube pan and bake immediately for 38 to 48 minutes, until the top is golden brown and cracked, looking dry and firm to the touch.
  7. Hang the pan upside down on a heat-proof glass bottle until completely cool, about 1½ hours.
  8. Loosen the edges of the cake carefully using a flat knife or spatula and remove it from the pan.
  9. Cut the cooled cake into small squares.
  10. Layer half of the cake squares into the bottom of a trifle dish, followed by half of the pudding, and scatter half of the sweetened strawberries over the pudding. Repeat with remaining cake, pudding, and strawberries.

Notes

For best results, let the cake cool completely before cutting to avoid crumbling. Experiment with fruits like peaches or blueberries for a twist.
