Ultra thick bakery style chocolate chip cookies with crisp edges and a gooey center, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt or sea salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups chocolate chips (semisweet and dark)
  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • Optional: extra chocolate chips and flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Prepare the wet ingredients: In a large bowl whisk melted butter with sugars until smooth. Let cool slightly, then beat in eggs and stir in vanilla.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients with wet in two additions, folding gently until just combined.
  4. Add the chocolate by folding in 3 cups of chocolate chips.
  5. Chill the dough: Cover the bowl and chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Scoop and shape: Use a scoop to portion dough into mounds, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 12 to 16 minutes until edges are golden and centers look soft.
  9. Cool for 8 to 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chill the dough for at least 1 hour for better flavor. Can freeze baked cookies or the dough.
