Delightful warm, fluffy pillows of joy, these classic French Vanilla Beignets are perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until a dough forms.
  4. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut into squares.
  5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the squares in batches until they are golden brown on both sides, approximately 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Use a slotted spoon to remove the beignets from the oil and let them drain on paper towels.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy them warm!

Notes

For storage, keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or freeze for longer storage.
